Columbus Rapids Open Season with a Banger

The 2023 season kicked off Thursday night with the Rapids Women and Men hosting friendly matches against the CFC All Stars and Limeno GA, respectfully.

New faces including multiple transfers from the Rome Gladiators combined with new international players on both teams took the Rapids to a draw on the Women's side and a dominating 11-1 victory in the Men's match. The newcomers were not alone with returners like Megan Byers, Sydney Vadney, Bria Riancho, Ethan Aler, Stephen McIntosh, and Freddie Zamudio, to name a few. The Rapids looked bigger and better than ever before.

Fans stuck with the event through power issues with a blown transformer and delays but the party never stopped, starting at the Party Zone by Pedal Pub before the games and concluding at Martini's on Broadway for the after party. Proving that the Rapids have the best fan base in the league!

The 2023 season is shaping up to be an amazing year for the Rapids franchise and the Columbus Area as they prepare for their home opener in February 1.

The organization is also proud to welcome ann addition to the already established ownership group in industry legends A-League Sports led by Andrew Haines and Michael Taylor as the new majority owners of the franchise.

Of the new acquisition, Andrew Haines stated, “Michael and I are excited to acquire the Columbus Rapids and continue to build the NISL and indoor soccer for both men and women.” Speaking of the Rapids so far, he continued, “Jason Gibson along with the entire ownership group and staff have done a great job launching the organization and building a solid team.”
